Really I am writing this review to pass on one important piece of feedback - the Tab 2 A10 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, but Lenovo has already released a system update to Android 5.01 Lollipop, and the tablet will notify you to apply the update shortly after connecting to WiFi,,,However, it appears that as of today (8/21/15) there may be some unresolved issues with the Lollipop firmware and several users are complaining of sound and network issues after updating their tablets.While it is admirable that Lenovo is offering the update to the most current version of Android (many other tablet brands never bother updating their products - cough Asus!), I suggest you wait until the issues are resolved before updating your tablet, because it is impossible to return to the original firmware once that has been done.Lenovo appears to be working on the issues and I fully expect they will ultimately be fixed, but as for myself the tablet works so well as-is and there's really no immediate need to update so I am happy to use KitKat until that time.

This tablet is great for the price. I am blown away how little attention it's getting. The speed is just as fast as an iPad Air. The battery last forever and it's under $200. I watched 5 HD movies and the battery still had 20% left. The tablet is powerful enough for 99% of the population out there. It plays 1080p HD movies without issue. It plays games without a lag. The chrome web browser performs very fast. At the end of the day, you don't need a top of the line iPad when you'll never use all of the CPU power. This tablet will do everything you need.
I've had this tablet for almost a month now. I compared it my wife's iPad Air and it performs exactly the same and the screen is just as sharp. It's a tad thicker than an iPad Air but you'll never notice the difference. The best difference is that I can use any of my existing micro-usb cords (even car charger) and I don't have to spend $30 buck for a lighting cable. Plus you can upgrade the memory to 64 MB for $20 simply by purchasing an micro SD card.

The Lenovo TAB 2 A10-70 is a great tablet. 2GB of RAM, 1920x1200 10.1" FHD screen, 7000 mAh battery for under $200? Amazing!
However, the reason I'm reading this review is that they've recently added an almost entirely different version of the tablet as the main product on Amazon, with the same name. The version you are most likely seeing, the Lenovo TAB 2 A10-30, with the Snapdragon 210 processor, only has 1GB of RAM with a 1280x800 display. You still get the same battery and the same Dolby Atmos speakers, but it's an almost entirely different tablet. 2GB vs 1GB of RAM is the difference between usable and unusable for me, especially on Android. And the screen isn't nearly as nice.
In fact, the specs are pretty much exactly the same as the slightly cheaper
Of course, the A10-30 is also cheaper than the A10-70, but I find it rather deceptive that they're using the same stellar reviews of the A10-70 to sell the A10-30, which will likely not give nearly as good of an experience. Sure other sellers might list multiple products like that, but the A10-30 was added after the A10-70 was already popular, which I find to be rather purposefully misleading.

Se conecta bien a internet (Algo que siempre busco en todas las tablets) incluso la conecté a mis datos móviles y no tengo problemas de conectividad. La reproducción de videos en youtube y en Netflix sin fallas, lag o cualquier problema. Con Facebook tampoco he presentado contratiempos. La pantalla reacciona excelente (Super importante!), no se pasma ni se traba.
Tuve que bajar APPs para la visualización de documentos de Word, Power Point y un gestor de archivos pero esto no conlleva mayor problema. Hay muchas apps gratis o de paga para eso en la PlayStore.

Just to clear the air on some of the note's another reviewer felt the need to leave on this tablet. first! far as reviews go, this tablet just released as of April of this year in the US and as for the number of reviews, a very small percentage of people that purchase a item, ever even leave a review. and second, the youtube audio and video synce problem's are nothing new, and youtube continue's to have such issue's with there software, but can be effected this way by many other factor's, like the browser used, video format ,internet bandwidth and some time's hardware and OS conflict's, but very unlikely, now with that said, let's move on. I'm not a new comer to the PC, notebook or tablet world, have been using such device's for over twenty years. As far as the Lenovo ideatab go's I have had some time now to put it through some test, like HD 1080pvideo playback, this included Youtube and Netflix, which viewed very well with no such issue's stated above and considering it only has a 189 ppi display, but keep in mind folk's,I do have a high speed internet service. The screen interface or UI is very simple to use and I was able to update the OS to Android 4.4.2. As for over all performance,and build quality, it didn't disappoint me at all, has a nice weight and feel to it and is much easier to type and interact with than my older samsung galaxy 2 10.1, but as for sound, not to bad, but two speakers would of been a nice feature point, but not a deal breaker. At this time, I'm very pleased with my choice ,I was looking for a lower priced 8 inch display tablet, and after some research of my own and some comparison's of other similar tablet's, I choose this one, a very nice, well rounded budget 8 inch tablet. Yes there are other 8 inch tablets, with higher specs out there and if you have money to burn, I'd tell you go for it, but I always consider my need's, my budget and what is practicable at the time. I've tried many 8" Android tablets including Dell, Samsung and Asus. They were all returned to Amazon due to stability or incompatibility issues that I just can't / won't tolerate. My job requires some sort of tablet that is flexible, stable and dependable. I have an iPad Air that works great but is a bit too big.I'm very satisfied with everything about this tablet. I use it daily and have never had any issues whatsoever, neither before the Kit Kat update nor after. If your looking for a stable, dependable and affordable Android tablet, this is it. I was about to give up on Android OS because of past experience with other devices but FINALLY I found one that actually works. Way to go Lenovo, you guys rock. The screen looks awesome, all the apps I use work perfectly and I don't even need to take the charger to work because the battery saving features Lenovo incorporated in this device are flawless. All day battery life with moderate to heavy usage and plenty left when I get home. Considering my past Android experiences I thought I would just get another buggy, unstable an unreliable device but I have to admit, I AM IMPRESSED.

I bought this to replace an aging first generation Nexus 7 from 2012 that increasingly struggles to keep up. Primary uses are as an ebook reader and Netflix viewer, with some other uses such as a Bluetooth connection to my ELM327/OBD2 interface for the car.
This Lenovo tablet offers low cost, decent capability, reasonable size (for reading ebooks), a mid-level resolution (also suitable for reading ebooks), and the microSD slot that I find so valuable.
I was excited when I first powered it up. It feels nice in the hand, and the display made reading books a breeze. There are two notable problems. The first is that the graphics hardware can't keep up with the currently available version of Netflix. Netflix video was consistently smearing and of poor quality, even over a link that works beautifully with all the other machines in the house. My old Nexus 7 is far better. I was unable to find anything that would improve the graphics performance.
Second, Lenovo seems to have a modest support commitment to this tablet at best. They offer an upgrade to KitKat (4.4.2, not the latest 4.4.4), and nothing else. There are no later versions of Jelly Bean (like 4.3), and there is no option to run Cyanogenmod on this tablet.
I'm returning it, mainly due to the Netflix issue. It had a lot of potential, but I think that some of the newer alternatives are better bets.
Great tablet! Decent price and very useful. Nice big screen for daily use as a gps replacement in my truck (osmand/gps locker). Works perfect with Arkon mount. Would be nice to have two speakers but with bluetooth through my car stereo its not a problem.

I debated whether to buy this model or its pricier sibling the Lenovo S8-50, which has an Intel Atom processor, a 1920 x 1200 screen resolution and 2 GB of memory.I decided that this newer model with Android 5.0 Lollipop and being $40 cheaper might be the one to get. I hope I'm proved right in the long run.
The Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50 has a Mediatek MT-8161 processor and a Mali T-720 graphics chip. It sports 16GB of storage with 1GB of memory and has a screen resolution of 1280 x 800. The back camera is 5 megapixels with no flash, while the front camera is 2 megapixels.
The tablet appears to be a well-made general purpose type model and it fits the role well. I downloaded the Kindle Book app for it and tried it out. The screen looks quite sharp and it makes reading a pleasure. I have the original Kindle Fire and it looks much better than the Fire's 1024x600 screen. I also loaded the Netflix app and the playback of any content was very smooth! My Time Warner TV app also played every TV station clearly and with no freeze-ups! I'm not much of a gamer and I suspect that any game that would stress an iPad or a much higher-priced Samsung tablet is not going to play well. One very nice feature of this model is the front-firing stereo speakers. The Amazon Music app made listening to both classical and pop music a very enjoyable experience. This tablet doesn't get very loud compared to say, the Kindle Fire 8.9 HDX 4th gen, but the sound is nicely-balanced by the adjustable Dolby software app.
I bought this tablet mainly because after upgrading my Nexus 7 (2012) model to Android 5.0 Lollipop, it turned into a stuttering slug. Subsequent upgrades to 5.02 and 5.1 did nothing to improve it. I eventually flashed it back to Android Kitkat 4.4.4, and even though it was back to normal, I decided I needed a new toy!
For those who are interested in such things, I ran a couple of benchmark tests to give any potential buyers a frame of reference to do some comparisons.

I would normally give the Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50 five stars considering its specs, performance so far, and the price, but I'll hold one back to see how well Lenovo supports it over the next few months. I have a 2.5 year old Lenovo A2107A-f that is still functional. Sadly, Lenovo never came up with the Jelly Bean update for it, which came out about a month after I bought it. I'm still peeved about that!
If you are in the market for an inexpensive Android tablet, this model is a sound choice. Price-wise, it competes with Amazon's HD 7 tablet. The Amazon Fire HD 7 model is a better bargain than the Lenovo, but only when it's on sale. Otherwise, I think thathaving that extra inch in screen size and access to the Google Play store, with its much larger app selection, makes the Lenovo a more compelling purchase.
Update: 08/01/2015I'm going to award Lenovo a fifth star. They came through with an update for the Tab 2 A8-50. The operating system is now Android 5.0.2 with software build A8-50F_S000024_150619_ROW. This update is about 35 MB in size and takes about 15 minutes to install itself. I just hope when the Android M operating system is released, Lenovo will offer an upgrade to it, as well!
Update: 08/23/2015 I see that the price has been reduced to $109.99. This tablet is a steal for that amount of money! I find I'm using it more and more, as its slim form factor and thin bezels make it nearly as small as an average 7" tablet. It is significantly better than its 7" sibling the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30, for the 30 buck price difference, with a faster processor and higher screen resolution.
Update: 08/26/2015Now it's down to $99!I'm tempted to buy a second one for "upstairs". If I knew for sure that Lenovo was going to release the Android Marshmallow update in November, I might buy two more. It's a steal at 99 bucks!
Update: 09/14/2015 Well, the price has moved up and down for the last few weeks. At $99, it's a bargain, but at $144, not so much. Last night the tablet got a new update to Android 5.1. It was a 332 MB download and changed the look of the "home screen" a bit and the apps I had on it disappeared. I'll have to play with this new version a bit. It seems a bit faster! I hope Lenovo updates it to Android 6 when that arrives in a couple of months. So far, so good!
Update: 12/01/2015After 6 months of ownership, I can say that I'm glad I bought this tablet. It has performed better than expected in every way! That's high praise from a staunch Kindle owner. If you're thinking about getting a Kindle Fire 8" HD model or this ...get the Lenovo Tab 2 A8-50. It can access the Google Play store which the Fire tablets can't do. The battery life on the Lenovo is excellent as well! The Kindle reading app works like a charm on the Lenovo as does Amazon Prime Video. I was going to buy a second unit, but decided to splurge and bought the Lenovo Tab 2 A10-70 for $179. Both of the Lenovos have gorgeous IPS screens with the A10 having 1980 x 1200 resolution. So, for someone who was unimpressed by Lenovo after my first purchase of an Ideatab A2107F 7" tablet in 2013, I'm alot more impressed with them at this point. Now, if they will update these Tab 2 models to Android Marsmallow 6.0 in the near future, I'll really sing their praises!
So far pretty happy with this tablet. Good size, good screen, good sound, and good value. Almost pure android lollipop. The placement of the power button is kinda lame. But this looks like a keeper.
1 month edit: So after about a month, I am gonna have to knock off one star.I've noticed some lag recently.Not sure if its the processor, memory, or the lollipop operating system.Still a good entry level tablet though.

I just needed a basic tablet for the main room for checking email, facebook, playing music and buying more stuff off Amazon :-)For that, this tablet fits the bill. Don't expect to multi-task (stream music, check email and Facebook at same time), but it will manage single tasks pretty well.Try to do too much and you will run out of RAM fast and it will get laggy.Keep in mind that there are some apps that you can never completely shut off that will run in the background and eat up RAM.All Facebook (facebook, page manager, messenger and instagram) and Amazon apps (product store, app store, instant video, music and kindle) seem to fall into this category.
The colors are great, which was important to me, since I like viewing photos (Instagram, 500px), and the sound is good to, but not very loud. You might need an external Bluetooth speaker.Battery life is up there with the best of them.
With expectations set reasonably, you will appreciate this tablet. I like this tablet.It runs smoothly and is very easy to navigate.However, there are a couple problems I have noticed with mine. I don't like where the power button is placed.It is very hard to get to if you have a case on the tablet plus you have to really depress it and hold to get it to even turn on.I also think the touch screen is not sensitive enough.I have to really depress anything on the screen to get it to respond and sometimes even then it won't work.Not sure if this is just the way mine works or if the tablet is just designed that way, but if there was one thing I would change, it would be the touch sensitivity.Other than that, I think its a great little tablet with an affordable price.Internet runs smoothly and it streams great.So if you don't care about touch sensitivity, I would recommend this tablet.
I was looking for a replacement for my 3 year old tablet that wouldn't cost too much when I found this one. I couldn't be happier with it. Where my old tablet was slow and underpowered, this one is fantastic. There is no noticeable delay when I turn it on or open apps. Everything seems to just work as it should. The screen is bright and the images crisp. The sound is excellent, too with dual speakers. The front and rear cameras both work great and I'm rediscovering the joy of taking random pictures throughout my day. If you're in the market for an 8-inch tablet you should really give this one a try.
